About The Events
Haddenham Beer Festivals – BBQ
Haddenham Beer Festival has become a nationwide event for the real ale lovers out there. It is officially the largest 1 day beer festival in the UK, with more than 120 real ales, 40 ciders and a selection of Craft Beers & Lagers to chose from. With the event so popular now, the Summer Fest sees over 4000 people come through the gates, so of course food is essential. Haddenham Lodge has been providing the BBQ for the event since its inception in 2004. We provide 1000 meals (Burgers/Hot Dogs/Veggie Burgers) through the day, so a great team are always required to ensure the coals keep burning and food keeps coming. All Profits of this event go to charity.
Garden Party
Each year on the 1st or 2nd Sunday in September, the current master holds a garden party open to lodge members, partners, family & friends as a welcome back into the throw of things after the summer break.
It is also used as a charity event by way of raffle, which always goes down very well.
The Ladies of the Lodge are kind enough to put their kitchen skills to the test by providing the desserts for the day, each year we are very spoilt with the spread!
In previous years we have been graced with live entertainment. A Pianist, solo Saxophonist and Classical Guitarist have “noodled” away in the background providing a lovely atmosphere to the afternoon.
Ladies Days / Nights
At the end of each Masonic Year, the outgoing Master arranges a special event. This is named the Ladies Event. It is to thank the partners of the brethren for their support throughout the year, especially the Master.
Events are always open to members, friends & family and have been in the past; black tie evening events, river cruises, fine dining etc. The Master & his Lady have complete control on what they wish to do for the date, usually in Feb / Mar.
Big Band Music Night
Each year on the Friday closest to Remembrance Sunday, Big Band Swing, an 18 piece big band, put on a public concert to raise money for the chosen charities of the Master & the Lodge for that year. Each year the number of guests has always surpassed the 100 mark, which is great for a village event.
The band is an 18 piece playing music from the Big Band Swing Era; Basie, Ellington, Hefti, Fitzgerald, Miller, Cole to name but a few and definitely a date to put in your diary.
Music Quiz Night
The Lodge’s annual music quiz always sees tables being booked well in advance.
Our resident quiz master will take to the mic and sound system to deliver a series of rounds covering many subjects and genres of music to make the quiz varied and fun for all.
There will be a licensed bar on site at the Thame Masonic hall, with entrants encouraged to bring table nibbles to keep their teams well fuelled.
So if you fancy yourself as a Pop Master, itching to score high marks & win a prize, please do not hesitate to get in contact to book a place joining a team, OR, book a table of 8 as your own team.
Lodge of Instruction Supper
This is a relaxed evening where included in the ticket price is a meal, which varies year on year; Onsite cooked Pizza, Local Fish n Chips, Cold Buffet, Curry etc. After we have finished the meal we are entertained by a great performer. In the past we have had speakers telling us their involvement in the Great Train Robbery, Winston Churchill’s secret Bomb Making factory during WWII, London Store Detective explaining the antics of shop lifters. We have had musical entertainment from solo artists, duos, small jazz bands and even Sinatra tribute act.
This evening is an informal get together of Lodge members, family, friends and people wanting to learn more about masonry in an informal setting.
Cheque Presentation Evenings
The Provincial Cheque Presentation evenings are usually twice a year and held at Masonic Centres throughout Buckinghamshire. The objective of these events is for us as Bucks Freemasons to invite our nominated Charities along to a presentation evening where they get an opportunity to tell us and the others present what they do and why. This helps get the charity more exposure among other lodges.
Florence Nightingale Hospice – events
As part of “Freemasonry in The Community” we as a lodge are happy to provide support by way of TIME, something that is often overlooked as a very valuable element to charity. The largest event the hospice run each year need Marshals, volunteers to ensure the safety of the participant and general public in some instances is maintained. We step forward each year to assist with their main event, the “Midnight Walk” and in the past helped at their “Colour Rush”
